Amelia B. Edwards

Amelia B. Edwards

Lady novelist, intrepid Victorian traveller, regarded by many as the founder of Egypt studies. As daunting and formidable as she may have become later in life, her 1876 book "A Thousand Miles Up the Nile" is nevertheless a charming travelogue of a now-long-ago time and place, as well as an introduction to early Egyptology.
