Your blog is beautiful! I know one day I will want to try cutting up my knitting (who am I kidding, that's just Unatural), but you are a brave soul.

Claire

Wow. That cinches it. I'll never be able to knit if it requires all of that! :)

Hats off to you.

Jeanne

Nonsense, Claire, in the area of cutting and steeks I am a rank amateur. Take heart, and as Elizabeth says, "Knit on!"

As EZ said when I first read about this technique - I think I'll go have a lie down in a dark room now - just reading about it is a bit un-nerving. I intend to start one of her aran cardigans and use the same techninque soon but gosh - the whole idea of cutting up perfectly good knitting gives me the willies! Good job though - I can't wait to see the finished sweater.

gah!
it's like viewing surgery and I don't even knit!

fascinating though -- I wouldn't have thought cardis were cut after knitting.

Diana

Went to EZ/MS knitting camp this summer and got a boost of confidence about cutting knitted fabric and using steeks. I cut open my first one this week. Your comment about the stiffness of the stitching - I used the crocheted steek and I think that helps get around that problem. You might want to try it on the next one. Your sweaters are lovely!
