I've been a bit quiet lately, at least on the blog -- I've got that ennui that seems to creep around the blog world now and then. Sometimes it seems to take an incredible amount of time from other things in my life, things that I should be doing and things that I want to do. I've been busy with the girls and the garden these past few weeks -- the recent rains have made the weeds spring up in the backyard with appalling speed -- and I often find so very many beautiful things on others' blogs that distract me from the things that I have already found beautiful enough to distract me from the previous beautiful things.
This is the first of a pair, the Hedera socks, blocking yesterday afternoon. Eminently distracting. I stopped reading blogs for a few days while I was knitting, putting on some metaphorical blinkers, conscious of the other projects waiting patiently on the needles, and then the other day I started reading blogs again and saw Nancy's "Turning Twenty" quilt in progress, but no, no -- I'm not going to start quilting! not until I get a few more things finished around here! Even though it is incredibly lovely....
So here I am, sensing a reorganization of my life on the horizon --
Blackbird would like to see an outfit for Show and Tell this week. I asked the girls to dress up a Barbie for me, and this is what they came up with, "Sparkle-fairy" and "Barbie-sanita" on the left and right dressed by Laura (who couldn't limit herself to one), and "Theresa" in the middle, dressed by Julia.
I LOVE BARBIE.
I DON'T THINK I CAN CONTAIN MYSELF.
THE ONE WITH THE BOOTS?
I
LUFF
HER.

The blog IS a lot of work! I didn't intend to bow out of Show and Tell this week but I was nattily dressed yesterday but today I am cleaning up the garden and can't be bothered to change.
I do like your stand-in models.

I LOVE the wellies with the polka-dot dress, and wish *I* could carry it off. The Jackie O hairdo cracks me up, too.
I still have all my Barbies, including two big containers of their clothes circa 1975-1985. I may have to write a post about it, complete with pics, now : )

I would definitely wear outfits 1 & 3 (without the gumboots). Great idea!
Yes, I know what you mean about blogging. My children are screetching for my attention as I'm typing this.

I grew up an only child with Barbie as my best friend. I continued to play with my dolls ntil I was a teen. Later, I dreamed of a daughter who would love Barbie, and we would share hours of joy together. What I was blessed with was a girl that did not play with dolls.
The socks are lovely!

Hedra is beautiful! How do you normally block socks?
Ack! The Turning Twenty quilt just made me want to throw eveything else to the wind and start piecing together fabric. I keep saying the same thing...no attempts at quilting until I get more of my current projects done and yet...somehow the Denise Schmidt book has appeared on my bookshelf, a rotary cutter and mat moved into my craft supplies, and there is fabric making its way to me on a ups truck. Huh.

That sock is gorgeous - will you be wearing it with black lacy stockings and high-heels? I found that picture from knitty really intriguing.
I know what you mean about having to limit yourself with the blogging. There are so many interesting things out there it's hard to stop, suddenly hours have gone by. Some days I just won't allow myself to get on the computer at all.
