Winslow Homer, "The New Novel" (1877), Springfield Museum of Fine Arts, Massachusetts. Well, it should be obvious why this is a favorite of mine!
Carl Larsson, "The Bridge" (1912), private collection, Finland.
Frederic, Lord Leighton, "Flaming June" (ca. 1895), Museo de Arte de Ponce, Puerto Rico.
Vincent van Gogh, "Still Life: Vase with Twelve Sunflowers" (August, 1888), Neue Pinakothek, Munich. What would a collection of yellows and oranges be without van Gogh sunflowers?
I love Flaming June! The long lines of her limbs remind me of Mannerism and the contortion of her figure remind me of Ingres. Great post!

Nice paintings. The new novel one IS great, and I always adore a good Carl Larsson painting!

I love "Flaming June". Never seen that painting before. I want it on my wall at home!
You do such a lovely job getting these paintings together.

I love the paintings. I have some prints to frame, all of women reading, that I got from a calendar. The one you have is new to me. Lovely.
