Well done on both counts. The fabric looks horrible to work on, is it polyester or similar?

I spent a few years as a band uniform guru and did a lot of mending and hemming. Our uniforms were also old but they were wool and beautifully made. They didn't get much respect but I appreciated them at the time. I heard last week that they were all thrown onto a pile on the floor during a remodel and the current band parents had to fit the students from that chaos. Your repair looks great - the view from the bleachers is the correct standard for how mending should look!
