I love this carpet, especially the non-symmetry and the colours are gorgeous. After all the work put into it, I don't suppose you would want to distress it :)

I have an Persian style rug (actually made in Belgium) and I looked to see how the fringe was done. It was interesting. It seems like a piece of the backing is left , then each fringe 'string' is pushed through close to the end of the carpet design. The two ends are then caught with what looks like a crochet chain tight against the edge of the carpet, then several of the 'strings' are knotted. It looks very neat. I'm not sure how clear that description is. I could send a photo if you wish.
