Julia's class is having a book exchange and a cookie exchange this week, and so today we made sugar cookies from a Land O' Lakes recipe (called "Best Ever Sugar Cookies" on the inside of the butter carton).
It's a delicious cookie, soft and buttery with more than a hint of vanilla, and the frosting is very good, too. The recipe made at least twice as many cookies than the 2 dozen promised (although even at this rather substantial size we did make them smaller than allowed) and one batch of frosting was almost enough for the two batches of cookies. The girls lost interest in the rolling and cutting after the second batch, but the decorating! that was certainly a hit.
They used up two whole shaker jars of colored sugar, getting pretty heavy-handed towards the end. But we now have not only enough cookies for Julia's cookie exchange, but for teachers and neighbors all up and down the street!
You have an excellent blog about recipes.
Congratulations...
