Mrs. Tim Carries On

Mrs. Tim Carries On

There was plenty of knitting for servicemen, both in real life and in "Mrs. Tim Carries On" (1941), the continuation of Mrs. Tim's diary, here during the early years of World War II, but there was also a great deal of knitting for one's family, especially once clothing rationing went into effect. Children's socks, to be sure, were either continually being worn out or grown out of, and so for my virtual knitalong, I chose this set of this late-1930s/early-1940s Bairnswear leaflet available in reproduction from The Vintage Knitting Lady -- http://www.thevintageknittinglady.co.uk/SocksChildren.html
