Elizabethan Squares, from "Celtic, Medieval and Tudor Wall Hangings in 1/12 Scale Needlepoint" by Sandra Whitehead (Guild of Master Craftsman, c2001)
Used the alternate color scheme suggested in the book, and added an extra repeat to make a carpet; worked in cross-stitch instead of tent as in the original. On 28-count Monaco, this carpet as modified works up to a finished size of 4 3/8 x 3 inches (11 x 7.5 cm), not counting the fringe.
Finished June 2014
Whitehead writes of this piece, originally a wall hanging in pinks and creams, that it was inspired by a cushion of colored cutwork in the Hardwick Hall textile collection.
