RIT "Evening Blue" on DMC embroidery floss

RIT "Evening Blue" on DMC embroidery floss

1 skein each of DMC embroidery floss in blanc, 931, 161, and ecru, overdyed with RIT "Evening Blue" (liquid).

I dribbled about 1 tablespoon of dye in total, over all four dampened skeins, let them sit in the sun for a few hours, then rinsed in hot water until the water ran clear. None of the skeins really retained much of the dye, though of course it was more obvious on the blanc and ecru.

I used the small amount of dye remaining in my squeeze bottle to soak the blanc and ecru skeins again, and this time added a large splash of vinegar in hopes that it would help the fibers retain the dye. The process certainly was effective, though I don't know if it was the vinegar that helped.

Strangely, the 931 and 161 look noticeably *lighter* than they did originally, which to be honest is a bit of a disappointment! The dyed blanc and white skeins are certainly very pretty, but I suspect that they are still not colorfast.
